TELUGU MOVIE ‘Rama Rama… Krishna Krishna…’ directed by Srivas and produced by Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations as released on Wednesday (May 12).

‘Rama Rama… Krishna Krishna…’ is a complete family entertainer. Actors Ram,Priya anand, and Bindu Madhavi are in the lead roles of the movie. In ‘Rama Rama… Krishna Krishna…’ actor Ram is appearing for the first time on silver screen with two heroines. 

A good part of the film is played by the action king Arjun where he brilliantly breezes through with his experience. Famed Telugu comedian-actor Brahmanandam does evoke lots of comedy and livens Save as Draftup the proceedings.

The movie has a typical theme with the hero’s (Ram) brother falling in love with Arjun’s (mafia don) sister. The story revolves around how Ram and Arjun’s youngest sister despite of their disagreement come together to make things easy for the couple from elopement to marriage. Again Ram (Ramakrishna) had to keep Arjun’s mafia history a secret until the D day arrived Arjun’s adversary landed in the village to take revenge.

Packed with songs, dances and the inevitable blasting of cars, stabbing and gun fights the story of the film moves from Mumbai to Godavari and back to Mumbai from Godavari. But in the movie one can find the lack of strong emotions. It seems that the director churned a boring affair into an okay watch.

While one of the most senior music directors of Tollywood MM Keeravani composed music for this film, Ananth Sriram, one among the youngest lyric writers had written the lyrics for this film. It is the 200th film of MM Keeravani and he said the he had given very youthful music to RRKK in tune with Ram’s energetic attitude. But the film doesn’t have a single such track which people would prefer to remember for a long time.

Story of Betting Bangaru Raju

Bangarraju (Naresh) is well known for his betting activities in his village and he is born with a golden spoon of luck. His life takes a little turn when he decides to marry a city girl from Hyderabad and fall in love with Divya (Nidhi) when he reaches the city. He proposes to her and is surprised to know there are three others (Amit, Samrat, Sri Akshay) in the race. Divya invites all of them for a test. Who wins the test and tie the knot forms the rest of the story.

Allari Naresh, as usual gave his best energetic performance. He carried the whole movie on his shoulders.

Nidhi has beautiful eyes and very sweet expressions but not so impressive as a heroine must have otherwise her performance is good.

Amit looks handsome and his dialogue delivery is also strong. He fits the role very well and he can take up few meatier roles and for a change anything with positive traits will do him good.

Samrat is tall and handsome but has a strained body language. If he can pump some confidence in his body language then it could work well

Sri Akshay have good looks and also performed satisfactorily well with his dialogue delivery and other aspects of acting.

Raghu Babu has a busy day and he entertains to a great extent in the second half, Krishna Bhagawan was witty, Kota was standard, the ladies did their bit as required. Pilla Prasad, Vijay Sai were okay. The character of ‘Savam’ was hilarious. Chalapathi Rao, L B, Venu, Duvvasi did their bit as required and added value.

The film is basically a comedy treat and enough attempts have been made to keep the smile intact on the faces of the audience.

Cinematography was neat, background score was okay and one song is worth taking home.
Also, the pace of the film was mild and if there was speed in it, the impact would have been much stronger.

Buridi

EVV started his career with Prema Khaidi a love story. He also turned a producer and made several films on his own banner EVV Cinema. EVV earned a good name for bringing out good family subjects and rib-tickling comedy films. Especially, his films like Hello Brother with Nagarjuna,Appula Apparao with Rajendra Prasad, would be remembered by the audiences forever and the audiences refuse to change the channel, even when they were screened on TV. Now he is back in Buridi with his son Aryan Rajesh in the lead.

Though his younger son Allari Naresh established himself as hero and is acting in more than three films a year, his elder son Aryan Rajesh failed to get a break. Keeping this in view, EVV planned to give him the much-needed break with a film in his own direction. However, in order to run the peculiar story penned by him, he is forced to give a key role to MS Narayana and Raghubabu and subdued the hero. In the absence of proper footage and attention, the director has indirectly snubbed him.


Story:

MS Narayana (MS Narayana) is a small don and Raghu (Raghubabu) is his assistant. Narayana used to fool people around him for survival and looking for an opportunity to prove his calibre. Even as he was thinking big, a person meets Narayana with a mask to his face and gives him a ‘supari’ of Rs 5 lakh to kill a girl who is staying abroad. He sends Narayana and Raghu to Bangkok. He also makes arrangements for their stay in a hotel run by a Telugu man (AVS).

Narayana and Raghu claim that they were from the film industry and came there for subject discussion. As the hotel owner dreams of making his son a hero, he tries to impress both of them. Meanwhile, the room number provided by that unknown person gets spoiled and Narayana wants to find who was the exact target. Narayana and Raghu change their attire as room-service boys and inspect each and every room in the floor. In the process they meet eight couples and suspect all the husbands of the women.

Meanwhile, Narayana gets a call from India that an old woman, whom he admitted to a hospital died and she gives away her entire property of Rs 5 crore to him. This makes him realise that only the good will have a right impact on life and decides to give up the murder plan. Who is Aiswarya? Why that unidentified person wanted to kill that girl? What happened to the dreams of AVS in making his son a hero? How Rajesh fell in love with Aiswarya (Aiswarya)? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

HIGHLIGHTS: 

There are a total of 10 couples in the film. Excluding the hero and heroine, all the other were comedians. Each of them individually have small roles but they tried to do justice to their characters. The highlight of the film is nothing but the situational comedy. At the most, the audiences could have a smile but not a hearty laugh. The entire film was shot in Bangkok, the favourite destination of director EVV Satyanarayana. Camera work by Srinivasa Reddy is another highlight as he was able to capture the beautiful locales abroad and present it in an appealing manner. Dialogues by Janardhana Maharshi are good in parts.

LAPSES:

With no elevation in the characterization, the film remained yet another flop in Aryan Rajesh career. Debutant heroine Aishwarya neither had the glamor nor could perform. She helped in shaking legs with the hero for a couple of duets. Though the film has almost all the comedians in the Telugu film industry, it could not provide the adequate entertainment to suit the expectations of the audiences. Tunes scored by Koti failed to impress the audiences and in the absence of melodious songs, their choreography too was proved to be unbearable. It is surprising why a director like EVV failed to pen a good story, especially, when the film had his son as hero. None of the scenes are rib-tickling and the screenplay was clumsy and the story is filled with lot of fictions. In the absence of a good story and gripping subject, the film failed to reach the expectations from any class of audiences.

REMARKS:

Don’t go to the film with lots of expectations. Though the film appears good visually while your stay in the theatre, the film could not provide the expected comedy despite the presence of almost 16 comedians. The screenplay, and dialogues penned by the director and Janardhana Maharshi, could not tickle the funny bones of audiences. Watch the film, only if you have any respect towards EVV, but not for any kind of comedy. The film’s tagline needs to be changed from ‘Tega Navvinchettadu’ to ‘Tega Visiginchettadu’

Director Karunakaran who had given hit films like Tholi Prema andUllasamga Utsahamga, opted Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal to play the lead for Darling. Director has unveiled a new artiste in Prabhas. Kajal who gained a new image with the blockbuster  like Magadheera has paired Prabhas for the first time. BVSN Prasad had earlier produced Prabhas starrer Chatrapati.
                                                                    
Story:

Prabhas’ (Prabhas) father (Prabhu) has a group of friends, who decide to meet once in five years. They settle in different places across the world and in India and could not meet again. Prabhas is a little poor in studies and somehow completes his degree. He is in love with Nandini (Kajal) his childhood friend and the daughter of one of his father’s friends (Ahuti Prasad). Though they do not meet each other, Prabhas develops his love in his heart.

Once another friend of Prabhas’ dad visits their house to announce that all the friends are visiting his village to spend a week’s time there. Prabhas is so delighted to learn this and eagerly awaits Nandini. Meanwhile, one of the juniors among girls (Shraddha Das) of Prabhas, who is the daughter of a factionist proposes to him, but the latter negates it as he is already in love with Nandini. So, she attempts suicide. Her father (Mukhesh Rushi) who loves his daughter very much threatens to kill Prabhas’ friends if he doesn’t marry his daughter. But Prabhas somehow convinces him by narrating a fictitious love story to him.

Later, all the old friends meet in a village and Prabhas comes across the grown up Nandini. He tries to impress her in so many ways, but she does not respond to any of his tricks. How, Prabhas impresses Nandini? Does Nandini really not love Prabhas or just pretended to tease him? What happened to the fate of the girl who loved Prabhas? Why Prabhas’ father wanted to marry her to another person instead of his son? Does Prabhas and Nandini unite or not? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

PLUS: 
The performance of Prabhas is the highlight of the film. He is soft and looks very handsome in the movie Thanks to the cinematographer and make-up man, who perfectly followed the instructions of the director in giving the hero a new look. Another highlight of the film is the stylish action scenes. Peter Haynes needs to be complimented for choreographing the action scenes with good precision. He used very less thread work and avoided cinematic thrills while shooting the action scenes. Above all, it is the directorial ability and perfect screenplay that could be said as the highlight of the movie as the director ran a delicate story with good precision and the movement of the film, which is basically a love story, with different action scenes at different intervals. As a whole he made the film very interesting and lovable.

MINUS: 
Music by GV Prakash Kumar is a big let down in the film. Had the tunes were impressive worth foot-tapping and the lyrics were catchy, the film would have been a bigger hit than now. Even he spoiled the re-recording too and the music failed to elevate the depth of the subject in any given point of time. However, the choreography of songs is good in some songs. But for the technique used in the screenplay, the film would have been very boring. The abrupt ending of Shraddha Das’ character could also be called as one of the minus points in the movie.

REMARKS:
The flashback episode shot in Switzerland impresses the audiences and the audiences are in for a surprise when the truth is revealed that it is nothing but a fiction. Such trick was never played by any director earlier. The film had the traces of some earlier films, reunion of friends, trials to impress the heroine and using a child in the love thread etc. Prabhas’ performance and Kajal’s glamour would be a visual treat, while comedy by Srinivasa Reddy and Dhamavarapu would tickle the funny bones of audiences. Director Karunakaran succeeded in highlighting a new artiste in Prabhas. The production values of Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra India Pvt Ltd are laudable and once again BVSN Prasad has given another big hit to Prabhas.

Story:

Director Boyapati Sreenu, who had given two action films with a sentiment touch like Tulasi and Bhadra has once again tried his hand on action-packed drama with Balakrishna as hero. No doubt, the Simha is better than the recent duds of Balayya, and at the same time the film has nothing new in the subject but a complete beaten track. The director has made use of all the cinematic liberties in running the story with the hero and in the flashback his father, hacking as many as some 400 to 500 people either with a punch / sword or a hunting sickle.

                           Srimannarayana (Balakrishna) is a professor in a college. He doesn’t allow injustice before his eyes. Janaki (Sneha Ullal) joins the college. Once some goons try to abduct her but Srimannarayana saves her. She falls in love with him in no time. Incidentally, Janaki is none other than his sister-in-law and on one occasion, Srimannarayana comes to know from his granny (KR Vijaya) that he belongs to the Bobbili clan.

His father Dr Narasimha (Balakrishna) is a saviour of poor. He could perform surgery to save life and he could also hack people if they do wrong. Unfortunately, two sons of a local mafia leader Veerakesavudu (Aditya Menon) die in the hands of Dr Narasimha for their excesses and in revenge Veerakesavudu kills both Dr Narasimha and his wife Savitri (Nayanatara). Before his death, Veerakesavudu tastes the punch of Dr Narasimha and goes into comma. Will he gain his consciousness ? Will Srimannarayana goes to village? Will he marry Janaki? What happens next will form the interesting part of the movie

Performance:

Balakrishna, after a long time, has given energetic performance . He played dual roles as father and son. He excelled in both the roles. However, ageing is clearly visible during close-up shots. However, director ensured to elevate both the characters with equal ease. Sneha Ullal is okay for looks but she still needs to improve her acting skills. Especially, she should be more cautious on her lip sync. Namitha played another glamorous role in the film. But she appeared quite bulky despite showing her oomph. She is yet to realise the fact that she has to shed the fat. KR Vijaya was the perfect choice for the grandmother’s role and she lived in the character and did complete justice to her role. Aditya Menon and Malayalam artiste Saikumar showed good screen presence. Rahman is okay as Balakrishna’s brother-in-law. Nayanatara, though had a very small role in the film, is okay in her character. Comedy by Krishna Bhagawan, Ali, Venumadhav is just average and literally they failed to tickle the funny bones.

Technical:

Chakri has composed melodious tunes to all the songs though they remind us of 80s and 90s Songs. Choreography of all the songs is okay and Balakrishna tried to prove that he could compete with Junior NTR in dances by trying some innovate steps. Action by Ram-Lakshman and Stun Siva is fine. Especially the chase scenes, the scenes that relate to hero bashing the villains and the gory killings were perfectly shot. Background score by Chinna is good and elevated the mood in many scenes. Camera by Arthur Wilson is good while art by AS Prakash is laudable. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao should have a little more sharp. Though the first half is okay, it appeared a little stretched. However, the action scenes in the second half made the audiences ignore the stretching of scenes to some extent. Director Boyapati Sreenu, who penned the screenplay and dialogues for the film besides providing story, had perfect grip on the entire subject, though the narration appeared old fashioned.

Remarks:

It appears that two scenes were lifted from the blockbuster Magadheera, where the hero kills 100 soldiers single-handedly. Even in this film, the hero kills many goons as the heroine wishes that she wants to see everyone dead before her death in the flashback scene and it repeats in the climax scene as well. The film also have some punching dialogues. The film is a nice watch for those who love Balakrishna and his fans.

Varudu

Allu Arjun is known for energetic dances and action-packed movies. His films like Desamuduru and Arya proved his calibre. Almost all the films in his career were either hits or run with above average talk. He teamed up with Gunasekhar for Varudu which is produced by DVV Danaiah, who had produced a blockbuster like Desamuduru with Allu Arjun. The posters and trailers of Varudu evoked lots of expectations and hype. However, all the expectations were proved wrong with the director once again utterly failed in translating his ideas on the screen properly.

Sandeep Aka Sandy (Allu Arjun) is the son of a well-settled couple Ashish Vidyarthi and Suhasini. His parents fell in love and got married against the wishes of their parents. Though Sandy is well-educated and got a job with huge pay-packet in the US, he always thinks quite traditionally and at the same time respects the love and lovers. When his parents decide to convince him for marriage, Sandy simply says it is a good idea to fly to US with wife and tells them to search a bride for him. His parents search a girl called Deepti (Bhanushree Mehra) of their choice. But on the marriage day the bride is kidnapped. What happens next will form the interesting part of the movie.

PERFORMANCE:

Allu Arjun is the sole performer in the entire film. Once again, he toned up his body with six-pack, reminding the audiences of ‘Desamuduru’ days. He is quite handsome in the first song, while showed his power in action scenes. Though his performance in dances and action scenes is okay, he still needs to improve his dialogue modulation. He should shun the style of yelling at the villain and should show the power through dialogue delivery. If he works more on the voice modulation, he could reach bigger heights.

Heroine Bhanushree Mehra is just average, but not worth a mystery. Of course, she had a couple of big eyes which are very expressive and nothing more to say about her glamour. Even with regard to the performance, she is just average and there is nothing great to say anything about. The director and the producer kept her face and name hiding only for a publicity gimmick and nothing more than that.

Though it is surprising that the director chose to introduce Tamil hero Arya as villain to the Tollywood, he did his best in the film. Arya had a strong screen presence as villain with his attractive eyes but the director failed to establish and etch character properly and Gunasekhar literally failed to use him to the fullest potential. Perhaps for the first time on the Telugu screen, Ashish Vidhyarthi played a soft role and Suhasini played his wife in a neat role. Naresh and Vinaya Prasad played the heroine’s parents and they did justice to their roles. The director needs to be appreciated for gathering senior artistes like Ravi Kondala Rao and Radhakumari, besides bringing to the fore a senior director like Singeetham Srinivasa Rao in a dignified role. Other artistes like Nazar, Rao Ramesh are just okay.

TECHNICAL:

Dialogues by Thota Prasad are good in parts. However, the way he used the Telugu idioms (Sametalu) during the marriage scenes are humorous and tickled the funny bones of the audiences very well. After listening to the dialogues and watching the huge gathering of middle-aged and old couples, the present generation would definitely get a feel of getting married in a traditional style to enjoy the presence of such a huge gathering. The get-together of several families is worth watching and it is learnt that they were real life couples who were invited to the shooting.

The director’s taste in showing girls in half-sarees and dancing to the tunes is laudable. The first and last song were impressively choreographed and Allu Arjun once again proved his dancing skills in both these songs. The entire second half is a disaster, with the director taking the cinematic liberties to the fullest extent. Cinematography in the film is good and the Rajasekhar captured the beauty of marriage as well as the action scenes with equal ease. Graphics used in songs are good to watch.

ANALYSIS:

Probably, Gunasekhar might have created an opinion with the six-pack body of Allu Arjun and thought of bringing out a film with family traditions on one hand and action on the other. He was quite successful in making the film till the first half. However, his creativity went above the imagination and crossed boundaries which tested the patience of the audiences in the second half. The concept of performing marriage in a true traditional style is okay. But the entire concept was rounded off with just one song. Despite a lavish spending, the film failed to give anything worth to the audiences, nor it had a good message that traditional marriages are the need of the hour. The director tried to impress the audiences with a voice-over by Chiranjeevi at the beginning of the film on the concept of marriage.

Maro Charitra

Yesteryear film Maro Charitra (1978), directed by K Balachandar is like a dictionary for love subjects. The movie starred Kamal Haasan in the lead role as a protagonist and Saritha in the female lead. Later it was remade in Hindi as Ek Duuje Ke Liye in 1981.

Now producer Dil Raju has remade the film under the direction of Ravi Yadav in a way to suit the current generation. Varun Sandesh and Anita are playing the lead roles .

The Story:
The story revolves around Balu (Varun) who falls in love at first sight with the neighboring girl Swapna (Anita). She too falls for him instantly. But Balu's father (Prathap) and Swapna’s mother, Durga (Urvashi) oppose their love. They ask them to remain separate for one year and after one year still if they are in love, they can get married, for which the couples agrees. What happens in one year forms the rest of the story.

The Review:
Audience should not compare the artists or the film with the earlier version. In the first half of the movie, director has maintained a good rhythm in the story, it has a good flow But audience is tortured in second half. Specially, emotional scenes has lost its sensitivity and it makes mockery of classic version.

Artistic Performances:
Varun Sandesh is energetic and has given reasonably okay performance but he gives an impression that he has not matured as a actor, specially while doing an emotional scenes. Because the movie is banking on emotions, he would have done some home work. Anita looks charming and seems has a long way to go. She should learn to dub her voice or else she may lose her credentials because the voice dubbed in the film has become a laughing stock. Shraddha Das has got a decent role where she had an opportunity to prove her acting. She has come out from glamorous image and has given good performance. Prathap K. Pothan, Urvashi, Adarsh have done justice to their roles.

Technical Performances:
Director Ravi Yadav has failed to reach the people's expectation. One might wonder why he opted a US background. In the first half, the narration is okay but in second half it's a disaster. The movie is fully bored in the second half by poorly written scenes. But his cinematography is excellent, in fact it is one of the highlights of the film. Music by Mickey J Meyar is good in the case of at least three songs. ' Bhale Bhale Mogadivoi Bangaru Naa Saamivoi' and Ye Theega Poovuno Ye Komma Chetino are retained from the original. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is okay.

Conclusion:
On the whole, Maro Charitra is a decent product which should not be compared with the classic version. The movie is only for Varun Sandesh, Anita and Shraddha fans.

Gautham Menon is known for bringing out excellent love subjects on the silver screen. Almost every artiste likes to work with this award-winning director and Naga Chaitanya got one such opportunity in the early days of his career. Moreover, the film Ye Maaya Chesave has yet another speciality in the form of music director. Oscar award winner AR Rahman scored music for the movie. One more interesting point behind the movie is the banner — Indira Productions and the film has been presented by none other than Super Star Krishna. All these points raised the expectations on the film further. 

Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) is a drop out of engineering studies. His father admits him in the engineering college, but Karthik expresses his wish to become a filmmaker. His friend Krishna (Krishnudu) takes him to director Vinayak (VV Vinayak) and pleads with him to take him as his assistant. Meanwhile, Karthik accidentally meets his landlord’s daughter Jessey (Samanta) and loses his heart at the first sight. Despite being elder, Karthik expresses his wish to love her and reveals it straight to her. Her father Joseph (Devan) would not accept to marry a Hindu and he is also against love marriages. Whether he will get his lady love and whether he will become a filmmaker should be watched on scree.

PLUS: The excellent screenplay and directorial capability of Gautham Menon is clearly visible on the screen. The film Ye Maaya Chesave has no great commercial elements, no big action scenes, exposing heroines, item numbers, nor double-meaning dialogues. The film was so neat and clean that the audiences would feel immersed in the film, especially in the second half.

The film Ye Maaya Chesave is like something happened in the real life and the dialogues are very simple and very near to nativity. Gautham Menon has proved that if a director really wants to portray a love story on the screen, he does not need to go for hi-fi scenes and can be moulded it very simple way. No doubt, it is a director’s movie.

Naga Chantanya’s characterisation was very suave and natural. He has also improved a lot from the first film and the dialogues are one liners and simple. Heroine Samanta is great in looks and she is so talented when it comes to performance. Gautham Menon should be complimented for introducing a good heroine to the Telugu film industry.

Music by AR Rahman is another asset for the film. Though the songs are not so impressive while listening, they are very impressive while watching them on screen and after watching the film, the audiences really feel how good tunes they are. The re-recording is furthermore impressive and elevated many scenes in the movie. Camera work by Manoj Paramahamsa is also impressive and he captured the beauty of Kerala as well as in the foreign locales with his camera eye well. Other artistes including Sanjay Swaroop, Devan and Surekha Vani have done justice to their roles.

MINUS: The film could be enjoyed by a certain set of audiences. The slow and silent narration, absence of mass elements, high-voltage action scenes and thread works in fights and the subdued characterisation of the hero, may not be liked by the mass audiences. However, for those who go to watch a silent and good movie, the film would be quite interesting. The director has ignored to explain, why the hero neglects his craze towardsfilms, for which he even left his studies and move around the heroine in the name of love. Of course, he realises the mistake and shows that the hero concentrates on his career in the second half. The characterisation of hero’s parents is not so impressive. Krishnudu has done a lengthy role and gave comic relief to some extent.

REMARKS: The first half of the film is very slow and almost all the audiences felt bored. However, the film picked up the pace in the second half and by the time it reaches the climax, the audiences are seen looking at others faces as if the film has come to an abrupt ending. Basically, the film is the best watch for those who look at it with heart. It is a heartful film. However, the grade of romance is a little higher in the film. The film sends wrong signals that when a boy and girl are in love, they are free to touch each other and even kiss each other. But for such romantic scenes, the film is worth watching by the entire family.
